Pool Repair

How to repair something on your pool.

When you own a pool, there is something that is always going to need repaired. One of the main things that you must continually pay attention to is your pool's liner. There is a way that you can detect a leak in your pool before it becomes to detrimental.

It is normal for your pool to loose water daily due to the sun evaporating it. There is also the loss of water because of the water splashing out of the pool when people are playing. Still, you can loose water because of backwash wastewater as well. You could even gain more water if you have rain. There is one way that you can decide if your pool needs repaired due to a leak. An easy way to think about it is, if you continually have to add more than two inches of water each week to your pool, you most likely have a leak. If this happens, you will need to repair your pool as soon as possible.

As you know, pools are supposed to be watertight. However, a lot of sealants can deteriorate during the time your pool is settling. It could deteriorate due to bad weather as well. Your pool may just simply be worn out as well. Your pool can leak through a number of things including your fittings or the accessories you have for your pool or through the shell of your pool. It is very important that you repair the leaks so that you save water, heat, chemicals, and to keep your pool's structure appropriate. If you leave the leak for some time, you may cause issues such as the dirt you filled being washed away. The first thing that you need to do if you think you have a leak is use a pencil to mark your water levels to ensure that you are correct.

There are some different ways to try to detect where and why your pool is leaking. If your pool leaks only when the pool equipment is on, you may have a pressure-side leak. If this happens, you can look into different areas to see where it is leaking from. You can look at the pump basket, if you have a pump basket with a clear lid, and see if there is air that is bubbling out of the return lines. You can also check if there is air that is repeatedly built up inside of your filter tank.

If your pool leaks all of the time, it could still be a plumbing problem, however, you also need to seriously look at the shell of your pool. You need to look for cracks in the plaster or any tear in your vinyl liner. You need to look extremely close at the tile and inside of the skimmers. The most common leak in pools is the separation of your plastic skimmer and the concrete pool. This is usually an easy fix, but you need to make sure that you find the leak so that you can fix it. You can do this by using a pH indicator on anything you think may look like a crack.
