Make a Chic Necklace

Even a beginner can make a lovely necklace. The instructions are below.

To get ready to make your bead necklace, go to the beading isle of a craft supply or other department store, such as Wal-Mart or Target. Look at all the beads and choose your favorites. You will also need bead wire or thread, crimping pliers, clasp, and crimping beads. You will have many options. You can choose to make your necklace with one size beads or choose different sizes and colors. If you use different sizes, choose one large beautiful bead to place in the center of your strand. You can use thread for a necklace if you are using smaller beads. Nylon thread is a good choice. You will need clear nail polish to fortify knots if you use thread. The necklace below calls for beading wire if you use large chunky beads, otherwise use nylon thread. Design and make your necklace to suit yourself. That is the fun of it.

A nice necklace is easy to make even for a beginner. Here are the instructions for a beautiful rustic necklace.

  1. Thread large sized beads onto beading wire. Leave about 2 inches beading wire on each end.
  2. On either end, thread a crimping bead which are small metal tubes.
  3. Push the crimping beads up to hold your beads in place, so they are touching but not squeezed together.
  4. Loop your beading wire through the clasp, and then pull it back through the crimping bead.
  5. Squeeze the crimping bead shut with crimping pliers to close the wire loop that holds the clasp.

You can pick up supplies to make matching earrings if you like, and make matching sets for all your outfits. They make lovely gifts for all you female friends, and will save you a ton of money. Beading will grow on you, and you will find yourself looking for them in thrift stores, dollars stores, craft shops and department stores. They are fun to do and beautiful to wear.

It is easy Alexa. I have made I don't know how many.

and Joe, I can't get pic's on my pages. I don't know if it's just me. I am not very competent with the computer, I' afraid.

Lucy, then you know how much fun beading is. It's such a pleasure to get out all your pretty beads and plan your next necklace.

I like beading. Thanks for reminding me. I hid my new beads and I had forgotten them.
