Great summer job or just the simple keep up for your garage.
I came across a great idea for a summer job the other day. My dad came to me and asked me to oil the garage doors so as to make them quieter. I asked how much he would pay me so he pulled out the bill from last time he got them oiled. He said he'd pay me $45 for both doors minus the cost of supplies! So the way it worked was you need three or four things.
Right at the beginning you fill the oil can with some of the synthetic oil, not all of it! More like one fourth of the bottle should be used on two doors. You take the oil can and squirt about half a squirt in every wheel. (You might need a ladder for the top wheel) Now you need the squeeze tube. Note this only works on a screw drive not a chain drive. Take a ladder and if you look into the bar that's attached to the box you'll see the longest screw you've ever seen. Squeeze out a thin layer of lube all the way along the screw. Run the door up and down a few times to get the lubricant spread on the screw but when your done leave the door up. Take your paraffin wax and rub it all along the frame where the door touches the frame if you can't tell where that is it's usually right next to or close to the wheel tracks. To top it all off you can charge about $15-$20 a door and if your careful it only takes about 20 minutes
