How to Make a Catapult |

A catapult or a slingshot were used right back to biblical times as when David slew Goliath but now the classic image is Dennis the menace or Bart Simpson. |
You will need:- A forked stick
- A piece of rubber, 2ft (60cm) long
- Twine to tie ends
- A piece of leather, such as a tongue from an old shoe
Method:- Find and cut a forked stick. You can find them in large holly
bushes, but the Y shape can come from almost anywhere.
- Cut rings from the bark at the top of the Y to anchor the rubber.
- Finding the rubber is the hardest part.
- After a fruitless search in
hardware and toyshops, I found that a strip cut from a bike inner
tube works very well.
- Cut 2 foot lengths of tube.
- Tie an end from
each tube to the inside of the Y.
- Make 2 holes on each side of the leather thread the rubber through the holes and tie off.
- You now have a catapult
