How to Make Your Own Cool Summer Air

No air condition during summer? Here's a ecologically friendly alternative. Looking something to help you with the heat more than sucking ice? Learn how to cope and enjoy the summer and "make your own cool air" easy!

Summer is a great season and there is nothing like enjoying the beach and outdoors during a summer vacation but for those who'd rather spend summer in their homes, summer can be HOT - and there is nothing as stressful as feeling HOT.

Of course one can put the fan on and suck on ice all day but that doesn't seem fun. You can put the air conditioning ON but believe me, there are people with no air conditioners.

Thus, you can feel comfy during the heat by making your own environmentally-free “air con”.

  1. Take an old Styrofoam cooler
  2. Put holes (about the size of quarters) on each of the vertical sides of the Styrofoam cooler
  3. Punch about 8-10 holes on each side
  4. Get some ice tubes and fill about ¼ of it with ice tubes. In between the ice tubes, you may also put your favorite drinks like your beer, coke and beverages.
  5. Put on the electric fan facing one side of the Styrofoam. The bottles inside the cooler will help make the air circulate and you get cooler air than if you simply use plain ice cubes inside the cooler.

Suck on ice? Why would you have to do that when we have another alternative? Take little clean plastics and fill it with your favourite juice (lemonade? Pineapple? Mango? Cherry? Whatever you prefer !) Freeze the juice inside the plastic bags and you get something like “flavoured ice “. You can also use Crystal Lites or use Stevia if you're on a diet.

When heat strikes, get the fan near the cooler and let it blow cold air in your direction. (This can also be called “space or limited space cooling”) While doing so, you can read a book or watch a movie while enjoying your cold air and sucking on your ice-juice. Stock plenty of ice-juice in your refrigerator and keep your fan and cooler running. Now, don't you feel better about summer already?
