How to Build an Air Cannon

Want to completely soak your brother or sister from the other side of the yard? This quick guide will show you how.

Ever wanted to shoot your sister or brother with your squirt gun but you cant get in range without them seeing you. I'll show you how you can hit them from hundreds of feet away completely soak them and be ready to shoot again in only about three seconds.

First you have to have any kind of an air compressor. Even a pancake one will work even though they do take longer to pressurize than other bigger ones. Second you need a metal LP tank. If you do not have one there is usually one in someone's trash. You need a long threaded pipe and about a six inch pipe a threaded valve and an air pressure hook up. As long as you have the air compressor is should only cost a couple of bucks. I got my dad excited about it and he paid for the materials.

For making the cannon you have to drill a hole in the six inch pipe in the middle and then thread the hole. When you have a threaded hole you have to screw the air hook up in very carefully so you get a good tight connection. You screw the bottom of the six inch pipe into the tank the top into the valve then screw the long pipe which is our barrel into the top of the valve and you have an air cannon that you can drench your sibling with from twice the range of a super soaker.

It took me about half an afternoon to assemble it. Have fun shooting your air cannon and loading it with just about anything that will fit in the barrel.

do you think it would shoot a baseball?

you would have to put on a bigger barrell and possibly a larger tank or greater pressure, but some of the larger ones shoot couple pound pumpkins almost a mile so a homemade one should shoot a baseball.
