Using a Microwave

Microwave cooking made easier.

The most important thing when cooking with microwave is to learn to cook by time not sight. It is very frustrating to cook with microwave when you attempt on recipes published on the internet or cooking books. Basically, these recipes are not written for the microwaves we use at our home.

Well, do not be discouraged with a bad first attempt. It's not rocket science to learn cooking with microwave but for sure, you will take sufficient time to learn the right way.

All right, now the first thing to do before you start using your microwave is to have your microwave cook book with you provided by the supplier. This will help get trained on ti faster as they provide the details of the temperature required to cook each food. If you don't have it then don't worry, follow the next step immediately.

Next, buy some microwave cooking recipe books and follow it exactly until you get comfortable with it

Now every time you prepare a dish, note the time and temperature it takes to cook, how you can adjust them by looking at the state of your dish.

So there you are… the perfect chef!

Note: There is no specific table for conversion of conventional to microwave cooking.

Things to remember:

  1. Foods that contain more fiber cook faster
  2. Always use less liquid or water when cooking vegetables or fruits as they are already contended with water
  3. Always use microwave safe containers for cooking. If they heat up fast and is difficult to even hold them then they are not micro safe
  4. Do not cook everything on 100% power, as not all food needs to be cooked at such a high temperature
  5. It reduces the time of cooking to a 1/3rd or more when compared to conventional cooking
