Does your favorite candy bar make the list of the Top five candy bars?
Hershey's (Hershey's Milk Chocolate)
This bar is what many people would consider the “standard” candy bar. It is manufactured by The Hershey Company. The recipe was developed in 1900 by none other than Milton Hershey himself and then, in 1908, the Hershey Bar with Almonds was created. Many people consider this the original candy bar of America.
Twix
Number four on the list is the nearly infamous Twix. It was first manufactured in the United Kingdom in 1967 by Mars Incorporated, and finally made its way into the United States by 1979. It was originally known as Raider in many countries, but was officially changed to Twix in all areas by 1991.
Butterfinger
Butterfinger was invented in 1923 by the Curtiss Candy Company. Today, through a series of business deals, Butterfingers are produced by Nestlé. Bart Simpson appeared in many now infamous commericals for the advertising of Butterfingers from the years 1989 to 2001.
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups were first created around the year 1928 by Harry Burnett (H.B.) Reese. He then established the H. B. Reese's candy company and eventually merged with The Hershey Company in 1963. It is one of the best selling candy bars in world history and is by far the most recognizable peanut butter cup in America.
Snickers
Many consider Snickers the greatest candy bar ever made. Snickers was created in 1929 by Frank and Ethel Mars and is produced by Mars Incorporated. It was called “Marathon” in the United Kingdom and Ireland but its name was standardized as Snickers in 1989. This candy bar is the greatest selling candy bar of all time and has sales of nearly $2 billion dollars every year.
