Making a homemade cheesecake is not really difficult. Here are a few tried and true tips to get yours to turn out picture perfect! |
- Set ingredients out until they reach room temperature for a lighter cheesecake
- All cheesecakes crack in the oven, but they won't do it as badly if you will set a pan of water on the oven shelf under the cheesecake as it bakes
- Let the cake cool sufficiently before you remove the sides. Be sure it is completely cool before you try to remove the bottom!
- Be creative... you can use just about any type of candy or flavoring in the cake, and any type of fruit or topping on it. Pineapple, raspberries, blueberries, cherries, or strawberries make a great topping. Put the fruit in a pan with just a little liquid and some sugar. Cook it 'til the sugar dissolves and then add just a little mixture of cornstarch and water to thicken.
- Be sure you press the crust into place firmly with a spoon or using the bottom of a glass so it will hold together when you cut the cake
