Six Fun Ways to Dress Up Your Breakfast Toast

You can make toast bread more fun to eat.

If you have a toaster in your home, you know how quick and easy toast for breakfast can be. You simply pop it in the toaster, wait until it pops, and then slather it in butter. Quick and easy! The only problem is white toast with butter or margarine can be a bit boring if you eat it every day. Why not discover some ways to breathe new life into your breakfast toast? These ideas will tempt your taste buds and renew your interest in toast as a breakfast food. You may even want toast bread as a snack during the day. Toast is not just for breakfast any more. Here are some ways to jazz up your toast bread:

  1. Try toasting a variety of bread types.

Why stick to white or wheat bread when you can enjoy toasting a full range of breads including French bread, Italian bread, cinnamon bread, raisin bread, artisan breads, whole grain breads, and more? Each bread has its own unique character when toasted that will add variety to your breakfast or snack experience.

  2. Use flavored butters on your toast.

It's quick and easy to make a variety of flavored butters to liven up your breakfast toast. Add some cinnamon and sugar to soft, whipped butter to add a sweet taste to your bread. Try adding small amounts of different extracts and flavorings to whipped butter and spread them on your toast in the morning. Don't forget about all of the herbs and spices you can use to flavor butter for your toast bread.

  3. Substitute cream cheese and spreadable cheese for butter.

Why not give butter a break entirely? Experiment with different flavored cream cheeses and spreadable butters. You can even buy flavored cream cheese in the dairy case at your supermarket, although it's quite easy to make your own. Try spreading a layer of cream cheese and top it with a thin coating of jelly to add a sweet and delicious flavor to your breakfast toast.

  4. Discover the world of fruit butters for your toast.

You've probably had apple butter on toast in the past, but have you ever tried pumpkin butter or pear butter? You can find fruit butters at your local supermarket, farmer's market or gourmet store, or get adventurous and make your own!

  5. Try some of the nut butters.

Peanut butter tastes delicious on breakfast toast and is a great source of protein. You can also try some of the other nut and butters such as almond butter, tahini, or cashew butter. Try topping your peanut butter toast with some slices of fresh banana for a tasty and nutritious morning breakfast toast or snack.

  6. Use toast to hold the rest of your breakfast.

In a hurry? Pile your toast high with bacon, egg, sausage, ham, Canadian bacon or other breakfast goodies and turn it into a sandwich to go.

By now, you're probably convinced that toast is good food. Why not experiment a bit and discover all this quick and easy food has to offer?
