Product Review: Kraft Easy Mac Macaroni and Cheese

Macaroni and cheese has certainly come a long way! Kraft Easy Mac Macaroni and Cheese is a godsend for parents who really don’t want their kids cooking, but also don’t want them snacking on junk.

This article reviews Kraft Easy Mac Macaroni and Cheese. Macaroni and cheese has long been considered one of the ultimate comfort foods for children and adults alike. There is just something very soothing about steaming, cheesy bowl of pasta.

Macaroni and cheese has certainly come a long way! Kraft Easy Mac Macaroni and Cheese is a godsend for parents who really don't want their kids cooking, but also don't want them snacking on junk. Until very recently, pasta didn't cook up very well in a microwave. Kraft has figured out how to make the noodles just soft enough without falling apart when stirred.

Kraft Easy Mac Macaroni and Cheese has 240 calories which isn't bad for a filling, nutritious “snack” for a high school or college age student or a meal for a younger child. Kraft Easy Mac Macaroni and Cheese only has 6 grams of fat, but does contain 40 grams of carbohydrates. The carbohydrate count makes it less than ideal as an everyday snack and it probably isn't the best choice for lunch or dinner every day. In spite of the high carbohydrate count, Kraft Easy Mac Macaroni and Cheese is certainly a healthier food choice than fast food or chips, cookies, or other grab-and-go items.

Kraft Easy Mac was introduced in 1998 as an easy-to-make alternative to their regular boxed macaroni and cheese. Kraft Easy Mac Macaroni and Cheese is easy to prepare: open the pouch, empty it into a microwavable bowl, add water and cook per directions on pouch. Each pouch contains a single serving and the only measuring required is when adding the water to the pouch contents.

The Kraft Easy Mac Macaroni and Cheese single-serve pouches each contain a pre-measured amount of uncooked elbow macaroni and cheese powder. The amount of powder in each pouch far exceeds the proportion of powder in a whole meal-sized box of traditional Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. The extra powder means the bowl of macaroni and cheese turns out to be extra cheesy.

Kraft Easy Mac Macaroni and Cheese has been tested at least 100 times at our house by my nineteen year old son. He gives it 5 stars for ease of preparation and taste. I have only had a few servings of Kraft Easy Mac Macaroni and Cheese, and I would personally award it about a 3.5. It's not bad for a convenience food and if you are really craving a bowl of macaroni and cheese, this is a great solution, without having to all the work of making an entire batch of macaroni and cheese from scratch or even from a box.
