Onion Usage

The Garden Onion or the Onion is a plant that has many uses around the world. It has been cultivated for many years before modern civilization; most notably the Ancient Egyptians. They also believed that the onion was a symbol of eternal life.

Medicinal Uses

The onion was used to relieve headaches and hair loss in ancient times. Today, scientific studies show that it is effective against the common cold, diabetes, and various other diseases. Onions also help the body make more effective use of vitamin C and insulin. Onions have been shown to lower high cholesterol and high blood pressure like its relative, garlic.

Other Factors

The sulfuric acids are the agent which gives the onion its smell. It also irritates eyes, as the gas diffuses in air and eventually reaching the eye, causing irritation.
