All You Need to Know About Chocolates!

Have you ever wondered who invented chocolates? What about the ingredients which chocolates are made up of? Where they originated from? This article is a must-read if you have any doubts about these all-time favourites!

Undoubtedly, one of the favourites of people of all ages is chocolate. Yes, I'm talking about the creamy things staring into your eyes in front of your screen.

Well let's come to the point. First of all, we will look into how chocolates are made.

How to set up a chocolate factory!

  1. First of all, you will need to harvest cocoa beans from cacao plants
  2. Note: cocoa and cacao are different! Another plant called coca plant is used to make cocaine! So do not mix them up!
  3. Then, dry your cocoa beans are then dried under the sun.
  4. Following, they are cleaned to remove any germs on it
  5. Next up, the beans are ground into very fine powder. Note: If you do not want to waste energy, 1million pounds should do the trick.
  6. Some of these go into your hot chocolate drink

  7. The rest of the cocoa beans are then further ground up and heated until it becomes a thick creamy paste slurp!
  8. You will then mix some milk into the paste and pour the mixed-paste into a mould and allowed to cool.
  9. Savour your chocolate!
  10. Your chocolate shouldn't look something like this.

If it does, you really should consider setting up a chocolate factory

The ingredients of chocolates

Well… of course the main ingredient is cocoa beans! Yes! Willy Wonka and his wonky factory! Well, other than Willy (who apparently used much more ingredients in his chocolates than other people), chocolate inventors are always looking for new ingredients to put into their chocolate. Now lets just hope we are not the guinea pigs…

A list of some weird and not so weird ingredients

  1. Milk (that's why you find your chocolates milky)
  2. Sugar (Fancy trying some 0 sugar choices?)
  3. Alkali (to make chocolate liquor: especially for dark chocolates)
  4. Cocoa butter (natural vegetable fats you get from cocoa beans when you heat them up)

When chocolate was invented

The first ever trace of chocolate was found in a mug dated back in 1050BC. (Scientists estimated it using Radiocarbon dating.) This gives us the hint that it was first drunk rather than eaten. Also, from then on chocolate was made into a drink. This continued for a very long In 1828 Coenraad Van Houten created the first eatable chocolate.

First eaten chocolate:

Invented by Coenraad Van Houten. He created this new form of chocolate which included pressing the fats from the cocoa beans to form chocolate. This was when the first form of eatable chocolate is first invented.

Now, there is a famous brand of chocolate named “Van Houten”.

Why was chocolate invented

Chocolate was invented accidentally in the Aztec and Maya period. The inventors of the first chocolate drink did apparently not know what they were doing and the chocolate they created was bitter.
