Here are a few cooking tips while using a microwave oven for safe and power saving cooking

Horizontal VS Vertical

If you are cooking in more than one utensil in one go, it is better to keep in horizontally than to stack it up vertically in your microwave oven.

Tastes like Rubber?

If you cook your dishes for more time in microwave ovens, then some dishes will have a rubbery feeling.

Circular Vs Edged

Try to use Circular shaped containers or pans while cooking. If you are using edged vessels then there is a chance that the food near the edges will be more cooked than those in the other parts of the pan.

When to add salt?

If you add salt in the beginning itself then your cooking will take more time.

Don't dry up your Vegetables

When you are cooking vegetables, try to boil some water first and then start cooking. Otherwise there is a possibility that the healthy juice from the vegetables are sapped and lost.

4 things you should never do with a microwave.

Never cook an egg with the shell. Never Use a metal utensil. Never use foil-lined paper products. Never try to heat a canned food item in a microwave oven.

Don't fill it up.

When you are preparing a dish with gravy, try to use a round shaped pan with enough depth. Don't fill the pan more than 3/4th.

More juice from your lemon

If you want to get that extra last bit of juice out of a lemon or other lemon like fruits, pop it in the microwave on high power for half a minute.

Get moisture out of your Chips

If the chips that you bought a few days back have lost its crunch, don't throw it away. Instead heat it briefly after placing them on paper towels. The moisture will be absorbed and it will be crunchy again.

Pealing tomatoes made easy

Heat tomatoes for half a minute on high temperature and leave it for 2 minutes. You can see that the peal will slip off easily.

Superb tips. I knew some of these but the last few were new to me. Thanks for that. You forgot to mention how you can heat up canned food. I guess, you will have to get it into a non metallic pan first and then keep it in microwave
