If you're like me, you love DVD movies. However, the reason why you don't have a closet full is that the average one costs over $10.00 with tax. For this reason, along with an overpowering desire to slouch in front of the couch, I search for havens of cheap DVD's.
You can tell when a store is selling them because they are usually known for the other bargains they peddle. Also, you can usually find the other stuff you enjoy with them like popcorn, soda and chips. It's hard to miss.
So below is my pick for the four top places to get cheap DVD flicks. Most of them are stores in your local town and one is downloadable from the internet. You don't have to pay membership fees. You don't have to send out anything in the mail or complete a form. Plus, they all carry a variety of genres to please the whole family. The best part? You can get them all under $3.50.
Rite-Aid
This store is known for it's cheap prices and variety of products. Recently, they've been shelving old classic movies and television shows on DVD's that cost only $1.00. So if you enjoy “I Love Lucy” or “Christy Love”, you'll go crazy over their selection. I-tunes
As a way to pull in customers, I-tunes will usually allow free downloads of a new or old TV show and movies. A lot of these movies are foreign, experimental or humorous. So, if you crave these types of flicks, download I-tunes onto your computer and start checking it out. Dollar Tree
Ever wonder what early movies William Shatner starred in before he was popular? Do you enjoy “B” movies? If so, you'll score big at the Dollar Tree. They offer a plethora of these movies. You'll get a huge laugh at some of these movies and actually find a few gems that just didn't get the right publicity. And, even if you find a dud, it only cost you $1.00 plus tax, so it won't even matter.Walgreens
Have you ever seen the first reel of Superman? If not, check out the DVD's at Walgreens. Along with their music, they have discounted movies. You may have to search the store or ask a clerk where they are, but when you find them, you'll be able to re-live your childhood (or your parents). Soak in black and white movies of “Felix the Cat” and/or “Popeye.” Remember days of yore.
