Consumer Panels: Five Top UK Survey Sites

There are many UK Consumer Survey Panels out there. Here are a selection of five which offer a combination of rewards for your time and opinions.

There are many Consumer Survey Panels out there. Here are a selection of five which offer a combination of rewards for your time and opinions.

Lightspeed

One of the best consumer panels in terms of the points you can build up. Each survey is about 110 points (115 - approximately £1 or $2). You can receive Lightspeed Points for completing most surveys. Then, redeem your points for Paypal cash prizes or online gift certificates. Alternatively, you can build up your points for bigger prizes in your Lightspeed Points Account. There are also opportunities to do follow up surveys which can add up to 220 points each. The speed at which you can transfer your points to your PayPal account is also very speedy.

The surveys usually have very easy to use interfaces and usually take no longer to do than is specified in the email you receive. There are also regular prize draws with up to £2000 offered as an incentive.

Valued Opinions

Again, this site offers a lot of surveys but they cannot be exchanged for cash. High Street vouchers for lots of shops can be chosen from though and are automatically redeemed when your account reaches £10. Although though cannot get cash from Valued Opinions you can swap them for vouchers where you are fairly likely to shop already - such as Boots, Marks & Spencer's, HMV and Amazon.

There are also regular prize draws - either for £250 or for gifts such as iPods.

Again, this site usually has easy to use interfaces on their surveys.

Indiefield

This is a very good site for the holidays or if you are a student! The surveys are more often than not done at offices in Central London and for an hour or two you can get between 30 and 50 pounds in your hands and then go shopping! On line surveys in real time are also occasionally offered from this site.

You will not receive emails from Indiefield about their surveys - check this site at least once a week to see what is available.

Toluna

Some good questionnaires but you need 30000 points to redeem for five pounds of goods and 60000 for £12. Most surveys are only about 1000 - 2000 points but some go up as high as 8,500! However, there are thousands of questions (for screening purposes and just for fun) where you can get 10 points per questions. They take seconds each and you can bump up your points quite easily by doing this regularly.

You can also write your own surveys or review products on this site - and even contact and talk to other members. So if you are a real consumer freak this may be for you!

Ciao

A lot of surveys are offered here but the points cannot be redeemed until the surveys are finished - i.e. until they have the right amount of people finishing it. The points can be put in to your Paypal account as cash though! There are also prize draws available on this site with a variety of prizes available.

This site has very clear user interfaces. They target specific demographics, so although there are lots of surveys on the site you may not find many that fit you.

Some Tips

  • Be absolutely honest about your age, interests and stuff. You don't want a survey coming at you about the eating habits of the aboriginal people of Walla Wonga! You simply do not know what these companies are looking for so it doesn't matter about your age, employment status and so on. Besides, once you start fibbing it is easy to forget what you have said about yourself.
  • Once you have become a member of the site, do as many of the free questionnaires as you can - this increases your chances of being asked to do a survey. These usually take the form of simple yes/no type questions. Often you can pick up a few points by doing these as well.
  • Take your time doing the survey. If you rush through it and do not answer the questions logically you will likely not get any cash or points.
  • If you are asked to add comments of your own, try and think of something to say! The more you input in to these surveys the more likely you are to be invited to do more
  • When you are invited to do surveys (via email) do it as soon as you can. The invites go out to a lot of people and it is on a first come first served basis. Although often you will be screened out as “you do not fulfill the criteria for this survey” you will end up doing it over 60% of the time.
  • Some surveys offer what looks like very little return for your money. Balance out those that do with those that do not! Often the smaller surveys take just a few minutes and although the rewards are not great it increases your chances of being asked to do more.
  • Watch your spam filter! It can often identify emails from these organizations as spam, so make sure that when you join them you OK you filter to let the mail come through from them! Or, alternatively check your spam box regularly
  • Set up a PayPal or other electronic funds transfer account as soon as possible. That will enable you to start transferring funds to yourself as soon as you start earning them.

I have done so many surveys and I still do a few now and them. I have oodles in my mail every day. My time spend on Triond is more fruitful.
