I look for friendly atmosphere in a café and it has to be a place that offers alternatives. If it going to be a joint that cuts their biscuits into two to sell twice the volume I am going to cut out on them. Seriously how can they expect to have loyal customers if they are going to get cheated? One has to resist paying a lot of money for their packaged coffee packages. I know that many have adopted state of the art graphic techniques but in the end it is the coffee that matters not the brilliant container as far as I am concerned. The cost of sitting having a coffee is obviously a factor but there are some other issues I have faced when choosing a café.
- Regarding the music that to can be a deterrent for me, I am likely to stay in a place that is going to alter their musical tastes once in awhile especially if I am there to relax. I am reminded of an idea though that many joints will up their volume so that the client sits less time and leaves the premises early. That is good reason to wear earplugs if you don't like the sound.
- Having Internet access that is free is another big issue for me, none of this being obliged to pay for an hours of what is otherwise a free wireless connection. A café that has frequent issues with their provider is one to avoid.
- I like to find a place where I am less likely to be disturbed by people if I have to write. Ideally this should be a place where vagabonds do not come in the café and ask for spare change or a rowdy group of acquaintances jeer when they see you are stuck writing a page.
- Ideally the café should be located close to where I work or where I live. That would be helpful especially if I have to walk home late at night.
