Are You Getting Your Money's Worth?

There are examples of how to make sure you are getting your moneys worth when buying a product.

When you go into a store look on an item for where it says MADE IN CHINA. Companies today use Chinas people and factories to make goods simply because it is cheaper. When you compare an item made in china and an item made in the U.S.A you will probably see that the one made here is a little bit more expensive than the one made in china.

Warranties are good to have. A warranty is good because if the item is broken or not working properly then you may bring it back to the store and return it.

Buying cheap electronics will just waste your money. An example of this is the I home for your I pod. There is one that you can buy and Bed Bath and Beyond or Target or you can waste your money at a store like Five Below. Not that Five below isn't a good store it's just that you will probably get to spend more time with your I home if you buy is at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I'm here to warn not to tell so please don't go telling people that I was against Five Below. I hope this was useful and that you will consider using this example on other items that you are going to purchase in the future. I personally like Five Below for spending my allowance and for giving gifts. Remember everything is one to five dollars.

Just as a point of clarification, most retail stores will not take any electronics back for "warranty work" they will instruct you to send your electronics to a warranty center for repair or replacement.

The author does make almost a complete point here but it just wasn't completely flushed out. I add my two cents:

If you buy your electronics at a larger "big vanila box" store, like Bed Bath and Beyond or Target versus buying it at a smaller discount store, should you have any problems in the first few weeks in most cases you can exchange at the point of purchase, but there are limits and vary by store. And I repeat no store generally will perform warranty work. Find out what the situation is BEFORE you buy.

Many different stores have different electronics return policy, some the reciept isn't necessary, some the product can't be opened. It is usually best to check with the store (either online or at a brick and mortar store) before you spend your money on any product, no matter what the price is for what their return policy is. If something should happen with your new electronics purchase its always best to know what you might be "up against" before it happens.

Also as a point of clarification, "Made in China" could mean several things. The manufacturing of the parts with in your electronics could be made anywhere, the Made in China label only indicates the country where the final completion of the product and where it was shipped from. It could also indicate that parts have been made in the US for instance and shipped to China for final manufacturing or that the entire product has been manufactured there, it is difficult to know.
