The allusive, some say useless, never-the-less a necessary part of your complete oven installation…why it's the ANTI-TIP bracket! This handy piece of metal prevents your oven from tipping over when Junior climbs on the open door to get to mama's cookie jar.
Though required on all oven installations for about the last 10 years or so, it is rare to find this little device actually installed even on new construction. If you are sooooooo intrigued….or don't believe me….or are laughing "cause your buddy tried to use the oven door as a tailgate and it tipped over on him….open the door and look for yourself. If, at the time of manufacture, this device was required then there will be a sticker or a metal plate riveted to the door which shows a child climbing on the door, or similar, and the oven tipping over.
This article is your first clue, the warning plate is your second. Third time will be a charm, right?! The warning label on my Whirlpool oven states, “Tip over hazard. a child or adult can tip the range and be killed. Connect anti-tip bracket to rear range foot. Failure to follow these instructions can result in death or serious burns to children and adults.”

Data plate on oven door.

Visual for “should be wearing a helmet” adults.

The device doesn't work inside the drawer though some still try.
