10 Items Whose Prices Used to be Dramatically Lower

These are way overpriced. Here are 10 items that have gone up over time and don't need to be so expensive.

  1. Movie Tickets

Back in the day you could buy a movie ticket for about $.10 easy, but that's not the case today. Movie tickets today range from $4.00 to $6.00. I understand that graphics and realism in the movies has all changed and cost more money, but really, is that a fair increase in price? I don't think so.
  2. Baseball Cards

In the 1970's you could buy a Topps Wax Pack of baseball cards for $.10 a piece. That was pretty affordable back then. You might make a dollar doing a chore and then go buy 10 packs. Today that same pack of baseball cards will cost you at least $2.00 a piece. You think that's not a big increase, put it in perspective. If you wanted to buy 10 Topps Wax Packs these days you would but huffing up $20.00. What parent is going to give their child $20.00 for some lousy chore they did? None!
  3. Gasoline

20 years ago you could buy a gallon of gas for $.50 easily. This made the price of traveling much cheaper than it is today. The price of a gallon of gas in April 2008 has just risen to $4.00 . This is completely insane people. Say you need to put 20 gallons of gas in your tank to fill it up. That would cost $10.00 back in the day. But these day to fill up that same tank with that same amount of gas you would need to cough up a whopping $80.00. Lets just say you cant go around traveling whenever you want these day. Gas just costs way too much.
  4. Beer

Go to any bar and ask for a beer, it's going to cost you over $1.00. Not to long ago you could buy a beer at the bar for $.25. Instead of having 1 beer today you could have 4 back then. A six pack of beer today costs about $7.00 a piece. A few years ago you could get that same six pack for under $2.00. I don't think that is a very fair increase in price. Beer is the American drink and the prices are skyrocketing.
  5. Candy

Do you remember going to a penny candy store when you were a kids and buying all the candy you could eat? Well that kind of deal doesn't even exist any more. Today candy that might have been priced at a penny a piece might cost between $.25 and $.50 each. That's a pretty big increase in price if you plan on buying in the bucket loads like you used to be able to.
  6. Milk

Remember when the milk used to come to your house and deliver your family a dozen glass bottle of milk for less than a dollar. This is not even close to what it costs today. If you want to buy they same amount of milk, a gallon and a half, it would cost you about $6.00! Its really crazy how people get away with pricing up such a necessity so much.
  7. Gold Items

The cost of gold has gone up such a dramatic amount lately that it is wrecking the United States Dollar. It is actually a real big problem for our economy. But jewelry and such has always been overpriced and always will be overpriced, but it has gotten even worse over the years. In 1970 you could buy a conventional gold ring with no diamonds for $25.00. Today with the price of gold so, so high it would cost you an average of $125.00. Sounds insane? Well it is.
  8. Windows

Windows are so expensive these days that people who are building house are putting in the best windows possible just so they can rise the price of the house $2,000 to $3,000 more just for upgrading windows. Today a single window would cost between $200.00 and $300.00 dollars. Twenty years ago window cost between $50.00 and $100.00. Multiply those numbers by about 10-15 and you get the amount of money that you paid for all of your windows.
  9. Sports Equipment

The prices for some sports equipment these days is at a fair price. Most mostly all of it is much overpriced because it is very desirable and people will pays lots of money to see their kids having fun in a sport. But football and hockey equipment for instance, they both will easily cost you over $500.00 dollars these days. Way back when this same equipment (without a bit of recent technology) would have cost you about $300.00 or less. The technology for sports equipment hasn't even changed a whole lot in twenty years time yet the prices keep going up and up.
  10. Cars

Can you remember how much you bought you first brand new car for? Probably in the range of $20,000 right? Well, you wont see any prices like that today. The cheapest you might find for a relatively nice car is $30,000. If you want to move up a little bit and get a new model or a better brand, then you are looking at $50,000 and up. Never mind the price of gas going up so much. Our children are going to have to cough up a lot of money to be traveling in the near future.
