It has been over five years since my septic tank has been emptied. I don't remember the last time my father and mother had it cleaned out when they were living with me. I live in the same house that I was raised in as a child. The toilet always worked fine and never overflowed. I never worried about the septic tank because it was not my worry. Now I take care of everything, and things are starting to change. Whenever it would rain, my toilet would overflow whenever I flushed it. I noticed that it flushed fine whenever it was a sun shinny day and no rain. Then I thought, “Maybe it's from all of the rain we are getting.” When I let the water out of my bathtub, the toilet water made bubbles and jumped. I thought, “This is strange.” I was suddenly buying Rid-X. That was something I never had to do at my house. I started buying more Liquid Plumr for the sinks. I thought, “No, things are just not right.” So I had a talk with my father more than once.
Finally he said that I may need to get the septic tank cleaned out, but he didn't think it needed it. At first, I didn't either because I never dumped grease which can block the inlet drains. I never flushed products down the toilet. Still, something was wrong. Too many years had gone by without cleaning it. I thought it might have been the big amounts of rain water putting stress on the tank because it is in the ground buried beneath the grass. I wanted to see what was down there.
At last, we got in touch with someone to come out and empty the septic tank. The septic tank man dug up the grass that grew over the tank. When he opened it, it was full of water. The man said, “Yea, she is bad off.” He sucked all of the water out with a gigantic looking hose until he reached the bottom. The tank was big and deep. He also pulled up something that looked like a terrible monster. The smell was awful.
Today, I can flush my toilet and it doesn't overflow. I can let the water out of the tub, and the water in the toilet will not make bubbles and jump. Everything is back to normal. Get your septic tank checked and emptied today.
